These two different diagnoses will be anorexia nervosa, or bulimia nervosa. Each of these different diagnoses will have different symptoms and behaviors that the person will engage in. Therefore, it is very important to fully understand what the person is doing in order to make an accurate diagnosis, which is needed to get the help that is needed.
When someone is dealing with anorexia, he, or she, will refuse to keep a body weight that is normal for their age, or their size. This individual will also seem to have a very distorted belief in relation to their body size and the shape of their body as well. This means that they may actually be very thin, but they will believe that they are extremely overweight.
People that are showing behaviors in relation to bulimia will generally engage in activities where he, or she, will binge eat. This means that they will consume very large amounts of food. When they are finished eating all of the food, they will engage in different behaviors in order to get remove the food from their bodies. There are a few possible ways that this person can actually do that. For example, the person may consume laxatives in order to use the restroom. Another way would be to induce vomiting in order to get rid of the food that they just consumed. It is also important to know that this person will also have a distorted view of themselves and their body.
